Structural and Building Envelope
Within the structural and building envelope arena, William Bracken has overseen and performed design, analysis and forensic investigations of concrete, masonry, wood, steel, aluminum, fiberglass, precast and pre-tensioned structures. Design responsibilities have included new construction, upgrading and retrofitting structures to meet dynamic and increased static loading requirements; design and rehabilitation of fixed and movable structures; design of false work and shoring; development of construction phasing and shop drawing development and review.
Civil and Floodplain Management
Within the general civil and floodplain arena, William Bracken has overseen and performed design, analysis and forensic investigations of residential, commercial and industrial projects in X, A, coastal A and V zones. Design responsibilities have included potable water transportation systems and non-potable water transportation systems, transportation structure utility crossings, and floodplain management as it relates to FEMA's NFIP.
Building and Life Safety Codes
Within the building and life safety codes arena, William Bracken has provided subject matter expertise to the FES, ICC, and BOAF on structural engineering, building envelope, wind design, flood design, general civil, floodplain, building and life safety codes and code requirements. Specific codes have included the International Building Code, International Residential Code, International Existing Building Code, Florida Building Code, Florida Residential Code, Florida Existing Building Code, Florida Accessibility Code. Additional areas of specialty include wind and flood code provisions, soils and foundation provisions, and coastal construction requirements.
Forensics
Within the forensic arena, William Bracken has experience and has been qualified to evaluate and opine on structural engineering, construction, building envelopes, engineering and construction industry standards, building and life safety codes, FEMA's NFIP and construction practices regarding vertical and horizontal commercial, municipal, residential, agricultural, coastal, marine and transportation structures. Analysis and forensic investigation areas have included building and property condition assessments, extent of damage evaluations, repair and restoration determinations and impact of building code requirements on repair and restoration.
